The history of the hotel and nearby
There are many shops and restaurants and a modern Flora shopping centre near the hotel or the New Jewish Cemetery, where also the world-famous writer Franz Kafka has been buried. Do not miss the view of Prague from the nearby Zizkov TV Tower, either from the restaurant (66m) or from the observation cabin (93m).
In immediate proximity of the hotel at Jiřího z Poděbrad Square there is a monumental Roman Catholic Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Our Lord by a famous Slovenian architect Josip Plečnik built in the 30ies of the last century. Every weekend in the area in front of the church there are farmers markets held that offer the best products from different parts of Czech republic.
The shopping centre Flora with shops of international brands, restaurants and a multiplex Cinema City or New Jewish cemetary where an outstanding writer Franz Kafka was burried are easily accessed by a short walk or by public transport. The underground and a tram stop are only in a minute- walk distance from the hotel Taurus. The television tower of Žižkov offers a unique view of Prague either from a newly reconstructed restaurant at the height of 66 metres or from a scenic cabin that is situated 93 metres above the ground.
